Amsterdam is known for its picturesque canals, vibrant culture, and tolerant atmosphere, but it has become so overrun with tourists that it can feel more like a theme park than a vibrant European city. The touristy spots, such as the Red Light District and the Anne Frank House, can also be overcrowded.
Alternative: Visit Rotterdam for modern architecture, or head to Haarlem, which has a more relaxed vibe with similar charm and fewer tourists.
