Burano, Italy

A small island in the Venetian Lagoon, Burano is famous for its brightly painted houses. Each house is painted in a different color — from deep blues and fiery reds to sunny yellows and soft greens. The custom of painting homes in vivid colors originated as a way for fishermen to easily identify their houses from the sea. Today, the island’s colorful facades make it a photographer’s paradise
